A queer half Chinese, half Malay woman with medium brown skin looks fiercely at the camera, one fist raised in front of her face. Her dark brown hair is in two braids, and she’s wearing a black tank top. The lighting is warm, casting an orange hue on her skin, and the background is dark red and black.

Free Virtual Film Festival

Online Event logo

QWOCMAP will present the first-time-ever online livestream of our entire 16th annual San Francisco International Queer Women of Color Film Festival, June 12-14. Moving completely online allows us to include as many people as possible, such as those who can’t attend in person or are located internationally.

Additionally, our Queer Women of Color Film Festival is always absolutely FREE of charge.

Deaf & Hard-of-Hearing

Open Captions and American Sign Language (ASL)

Our 2020 Virtual Film Festival will be entirely open captioned. All our films have English Subtitles for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing, and ASL Interpretation and CART/live open captions will be provided for the live, interactive filmmaker Q&As.

Safety & Care

Safety & Care

We realize that there have been safety issues with webinars and video conferences, in terms of hate speech and harassment. We are taking the following steps to ensure that our Film Festival is a safe and welcoming space that engenders a sense of belonging.

Mandatory Ticket Registration

Only individuals who register for a free ticket will be able to view the online livestreamed screenings.

Moderated Chat

The chat and Q&A will be moderated. Anyone who engages in harassment or hate speech will be blocked, and their comments deleted.

Content Warnings

There are Content Warnings listed for each film.

Crisis Counselors

Anyone who experiences intense emotional reactions (triggering, distress, anxiety, panic) during the Film Festival can call SFWAR’s free, confidential hotline for support, at 415-647-7273. The hotline’s answering service operator will connect you with the counselor-on-call.

If you need support in a language other than English, just tell the answering service operator and they will connect you with a Crisis Counselor who speaks that language. In some cases, a counselor may need to write down your contact information and call you back.
